- The base Kia Sportage offers 181 hp and 175 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, it gets up to 23 mpg city and 30 mpg highway with FWD.
- With a base Kia Sorento, you’ll get 185 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque. Despite this model’s larger size, its fuel economy ratings don’t differ significantly. You’ll get 22 mpg city and 29 mpg highway with standard FWD.
You can also upgrade the Kia Sportage with a 2.0L turbocharged Inline-4, which offers 240 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. The Kia Sorento engine upgrade is a 3.3L V6, and it delivers 290 hp and 252 lb-ft of torque.
Here again, the two models are closer than you might expect, in terms of fuel economy. The Sportage upgrade gets you 20 mpg city, 28 mpg highway, while the Sorento upgrade offers 19 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. Both estimates were made with FWD, although all-wheel drive is available in both models.

- The baseline Kia Sportage trim offers Forward Collision Warning with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Keeping Assist, and a Driver Attention Monitor. To get the same features in the 2020 Kia Sorento, you’ll have to upgrade to the EX trim.
- For 2020, both the Sorento and the Sportage offer a Blind Spot Collision Warning as a standard feature, in the first upgrade after each model’s base trim. However, only the Sorento offers Blind Spot Collision Avoidance assist as an upgrade, starting in the S trim.
